Men overlook several things, most of them do not even realize that they are overweight till someone points out or till they get some sort of illness, due to being overweight. Remember it is your decision to make, you can choose to remain obese or work towards getting into shape.

Eat whole grains, plenty of protein, fruits and vegetables. This is not to say that you cannot eat carbohydrates; just consume them in moderation. Never skip a meal. It’s best to eat several small meals a day rather than three large ones. NEVER forget breakfast. Even if all you can do is have time for a protein shake, do it. Your body needs nutrients, vitamins and minerals to sustain healthy bones, blood and spirit.

In developing exercise regimens, men must make sure to include a decent amount of cardiovascular exercise. This portion of men’s work-out is imperative for aiding in good blood circulation, heart strength, keeping cholesterol levels in check as well as keeping the metabolism at peak performance. Cardio routines should be interspersed throughout the week with core exercises, flexibility training, and working out with weights. Mix it up so that you and your body do not become bored.

It has been said that sometimes incremental exercise works better than larger chunks of time since your body will be working overtime trying to figure out if it should be relaxing or working.

As men age, their body naturally loses muscle mass roughly around 4-6lbs. every decade. Simple weight training routines thrown into your workout will help close the gap. Similar to inactivity in the brain and loss of sharpness in one’s mental acuity, if a man (or woman) does not work his muscles, they will continue to deteriorate over time.
